Mrs. Onie Mae Moore Dawson, 95, died Monday Aug. 24, 2009, at a local nursing facility. She was a native of Geneva and had been a resident of Brewton since 1941. She retired as a first grade teacher  with 42 years of service, six years at Zion Chapel School in Coffee County and 36 years with the Brewton City Schools. She was a member of the Escambia County Retired Teachers Association, The BEA, AEA and NEA, the Omega Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society; and First Baptist Church of Brewton. She was preceded in death by her husband, James P. "Pete" Dawson; her parents; three sisters and three brothers.
She is survived by two brothers, Fred W. Moore of Elba, and Robert Curtis Moore of New Orleans, La.; a number of nieces, nephews; and her special friends, Dr. Keith and Gabriela Miller and their sons, Allen and Trin, all of Brewton.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Brewton from 9:30 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m.
Funeral services will be held Wenesday, Aug. 26, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Paul Kendrick, the Rev. Jack Fitts, the Rev. John Finklea and the Rev. Ron Headley officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery with Craver's Funeral Home directing.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zion Chapel Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
