Despite rising numbers in unemployment locally and nationally, Janice Grayson sees some improvement in the local labor market.
Although Grayson couldn’t name the industries looking for workers, she did say the industries had some layoffs in the past.
Grayson said the center works with five major industries in the area, as well as an array of retail and fast food establishments.
Not only do employers have the opportunity to conduct their own job announcements, potential employees have a chance to see all of the job availabilities across the state.
Grayson said the Brewton office has contact with an average of 1,000 potential employees per month.
Grayson said the recent upswing in job announcements and the slowdown of applicants could be a good indicator of the economy’s future.
