BMS Tigers blank WSNMS Eagles

In the first middle school game of the season for both area teams Thursday night in Brewton, Brewton Middle School blanked W.S. Neal 46-0.
The win improved BMS to 1-0 while the loss dropped W.S. Neal to 0-1.
Brewton’s Eric Maye, on his birthday, rushed for 196 yards on 12 carries and had two touchdowns in the blowout win for the Tigers over the Eagles.
Brewton racked up 256 total yards of offense with 251 yards coming on the ground.
W.S. Neal had 171 yards of offense with 167 coming on the ground.
Kameron Coleman, Corey Carter, and Dominique Jackson all had rushing touchdowns in the win for Brewton and Jackson had a 74-yard punt return in the win for the Tigers.
W.S. Neal started the game off with a six-play drive to their own 42-yard line, but had to settle for a punt.
After the Eagle punt, Brewton used one play and got a 61-yard touchdown run from Maye to go ahead 8-0 after a successful two-point conversion by Coleman at the 4:23 mark in the first quarter.
Both teams alternated fumbles on their next drives and after a seven-play drive for the Eagles to midfield, Chandler Brown intercepted an Eagles pass and returned it to the 15-yard line for the Tigers.
Coleman scored three plays later from six yards out to put Brewton up 16-0 after a Maye two-point conversion with 6:32 left in the second quarter to give Brewton a 16-0 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, Brewton got a 31-yard touchdown run from Maye, who also added the two-point conversion to go up 24-0 with 6:32 left in the third quarter.
After holding W.S. Neal to a punt, Jackson returned the punt 74 yards to give Brewton a 30-0 lead with 4:15 left in the quarter, as the two-point conversion was unsuccessful.
W.S Neal then used a five-play drive to get to the Brewton 29-yard line, but fumbled and three plays later, Jackson scored from 12 yards out to put Brewton up 38-0 at the end of the third quarter as Coleman added the two-point conversion.
Carter would add the last Brewton touchdown of the night with 4:17 left in the game after a 6-yard run after a blocked Eagle punt to put Brewton up 46-0.
Travon Reed led W.S. Neal with 91 yards on 10 carries.

In a one quarter seventh grade game to start things off, Brewton’s seventh grade team defeated W.S. Neal Middle School 8-0.
Corey Carter scored the only touchdown in the game as he scored on a 38-yard run on Brewton’s second play to give Brewton a 6-0 lead wit 4:42 left in the game.
Kellyn Winn added the two-point conversion to give Brewton an 8-0 lead.
Brewton had 77 yards rushing and two first downs and W.S. Neal had 37 yards rushing in the loss.
