A handful of children were on hand Monday morning when the city turned on its new splash pad at Dogwood Hills, but the water flowed all day as more children turned out throughout the day to enjoy the fun.
Adrian Lowery had just two words to describe the newest park attraction: “It’s cool.”
Adrian’s mother Katja Lowery said she was enjoying the splash pad as well.
Mayor Ted Jennings was on hand to watch the children in the park when the water spray was turned on at 9 a.m.
Jennings also praised city parks and recreation director Gary Hill for his work to have the park open by Labor Day.
The park was paid for from the proceeds of the sale of land to the school district for its new middle school.
The new skate park at Burnt Corn Creek Park also opened over the weekend.
