Mrs. Catherine Hart Davis Ponder, 87, died Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, at a local hospital after an extended illness. She was a native of Dixie and a life long resident of Brewton. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church and of her community in the American Red Cross and Girl Scouts.
She is survived by a daughter, Catherine Elizabeth “Libby” Davis of Birmingham and Brewton; two sisters, Margie Haigler of Brewton, and Frances Watson of Tallahassee, Fla.; 10 nieces and 10 nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 21, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Brewton with Dr. Ed Glaize officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery with Craver’s Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held for one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Brewton.
