Mr. Coy Otis Rhea, 69, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2009, at his residence. He was a native of Sevierville, Tenn., and a resident of Century for the past 10 years. He is a member of Ray’s Chapel and retired from the Great Smokie Mountain National Park Service with 29 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he earned a first class missile man’s and marksman badges. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Pauline Rhea; and a brother, Cecil Rhea.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Estherline B. Rhea of Century; a son, Michael Rhea of Sevierville; five daughters, Terri Lynn Crockett and Rhonda Rhea Marshand, both of Sevierville, Tywona Lee Crockett of Cantonment, Fla., Kathy Brady and Rhonda Pollitt, both of Century; a brother, Ronald Clarence Rhea of Sevierville; two sisters, Wilma Christine Campbell and Queenie DaLee McMahn, both of Sevierville; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Sept. 20, at 2 p.m. at Howard’s View Baptist Church in Sevierville, with the Rev. James Lungsford officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with Flomaton Funeral Home in charge of local arrangements.
