Mrs. Ruthie Findley, 81, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009, in Destin, Fla. She was a native of Dothan, a former resident of Big Springs, Texas, and a resident of Century for the past 10 years. She attended the Poplar Dell Baptist Church and was preceded in death by three brothers, Tunnie Hawthorne, Ghrome Hawthorne and Huey Hawthorne.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Lee Roy Findley of Century; two daughters, Sara Lee (Steve) McAuliffe of Macy, Ind., and Linda Kuykendall of Century; three grandchildren, Tammy McAuliffe of Tallahassee, Fla., Randy Kuykendall of San Antonio, Texas, and Terri Maine of Denver, Ind.; three great-grandchildren, Steven Main, Ashlyn Main and Kayla Main, all of Denver; a brother, Hulen (Mary Ann) Hawthorne of Pace, Fla.; a half-brother, Jerry (Kay) Thompson; a sister, Betty Jean (William “Bo”) Polk of Brewton; and a half-sister, Brenda Joyce (Coleman) Wade of Jay, Fla.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, at 1 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Mitch Herring officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Dell Cemetery with Petty-Eastside directing. Pallbearers will be Evon Johnson, Judson Carden Sr., Buddy Walston, Bill Haley, Raymond Jerkins, and Nathaniel Mote.
