EB youth football gets three wins at Opp

The East Brewton Youth Football Eagles traveled to Opp last Saturday. All except one team came away with wins at the end of the day.
EB Midgets 13,
Opp 6
The day started with the EB Midgets coming home with another win.
Quarterback Christian Madden (#12) led the team with 134 rushing yards that included two touchdowns as well as two fumble recoveries.
Marcus Dillard (#13) also rushed for 32 yards and made a big contribution to the Midget offense. Dylan Ingram (#4) led the team in defensive tackles and came up with a fumble recovery.
Walker Cunningham (#26) came up with EB’s final fumble recovery of the day.
Assisting with defensive tackles to clinch the Midgets 13-6 victory over the Opp Bobcats were Triston McCreary (#8), Conner Nelson (#9), Paxton Scurlock (#11), Caleb Sexton (#15) and Konner Wood (#20).
EB Tiny Mites 7,
Opp 6
EB’s Tiny Mites began their day with a scoreless first half. It wasn’t long into the third quarter that Matthew Thomas (#40) ran 4 of his 34 total yards in for EB’s solo touchdown of the day.
A pass completion by Thomas (#40) to Jakeven Green (#80), 61 yards rushing from Isaac Bonam (#28), nine yards from Jamal Duggans (#17), and additional yard from Brendan Jenkins (#5) contributed to the Tiny Mites 7-6 win over Opp.
EB’s leading defensive players were Nehemiah Nearor   (#33), Matthew Thomas (#40), Jamal Duggans (#17), Isaac Bonam (#28) and Brendan Jenkins (#5).
Opp 19,
EB Termites 13
In spite of an exciting offensive showing the EB Termites could not make it happen. Quarterback Joseph Booker (#11) threw seven completed passes resulting in 122 total yards and had one interception on the Bobcats 20-yard line.
Tyshawn Davis (#22) showed out in a big way with six receptions resulting in two touchdowns. Matt Hutchins (#5) contributed with the seventh pass reception.
The combined efforts of Jacoby Hawthorne (#2), Christian Taylor (#3), and Keith Barksdale (#1) resulted in 120 rushing yards for EB’s Termites, however they were unable to hold the Opp Bobcats.
Defensive tackles by Jacoby Hawthorne (#2), Tyshawn Davis (#22), JT Lane (#32), Matt Hutchins (#5), Christian Taylor (#3), Duane Hamby (#8), and Omar Ellington (#10) assisted in making this a battle until the very end. The final score was EB 13 and Opp 19.
EB Pee Wee 14,
Opp 13
EB’s Pee Wee clashed with the Opp Bobcats but were able to walk away with a hard fought victory.
In the first quarter, Malcolm Hawthorne (#2) finished an impressive drive with a 4-yard touchdown run.
EB had a scoreless second quarter and at halftime they were down 14 – 8.
Not to be outdone, the Eagles stormed back late in the fourth quarter with a 42-yard pass from Lane Chavers (#18) to Trey Taylor (#5).
The conversion was good and the East Brewton Eagles won 14-13.
Miles Powell (#16) carried the ball 17 times for 122 yards; Malcolm Hawthorne (#2) carried the ball 16 carries for 90 yds.
The defense had a tough time with the Bobcats but was able to stop them with tackles by Matt Franklin (#53), Malik Grace (#15), Joseph Booker (#11), Malcolm Hawthorne (#2) and Miles Powell (#18).
