The theft of E911 road signs throughout the county has members of the Escambia County Commission both upset and worried.
According to District 4 Commissioner Brandon Smith, 87 signs have been stolen since Aug. 19. Although losing the signs is an added expense the county does not want to pay, his main concern is the safety of residents living in the county.
In addition, it will cost $7,000 to replace the signs when the cost of use of equipment for installation and labor is calculated.
Smith said the reflective E911 road signs are located on every road in the county.
Anyone with information regarding the stolen signs is asked to call your local law enforcement agency.
