After suffering their first loss of the 2009 season and their first region loss Friday night at the hands of region rival Straughn, the Tigers of T.R. Miller will finish off their region schedule this Friday night at home for homecoming against Choctaw County.
Choctaw County is coming off a 40-6 win over Calhoun Friday night to improve to 3-5 overall and to 3-3 in region play.
The loss for T.R. Miller dropped them to 7-1 overall and to 5-1 in region play.
T.R. Miller Tiger head coach Jamie Riggs said the game against Straughn was actually a really good game.
Riggs said he was least pleased about his team’s effort in the game.
While the Tigers suffered their first loss Friday night that cost them a chance to win the region championship, that feat can still be accomplished.
While getting the region championship title is still possible, the Tigers will need to take care of business Friday night and get some help from a tough region foe they defeated two weeks ago in the Luverne Tigers.
The Tigers of Luverne will take on Straughn in Straughn this Friday night. If Luverne defeats Straughn and T.R. Miller wins, T.R. Miller will get the region championship and Bayside will be the No. 2 seed followed by Luverne and Straughn.
If Straughn wins over Luverne, Straughn will be the region champion followed by T.R. Miller, Bayside, and Luverne.
But with all that said, T.R. Miller has to win first and foremost on homecoming in Brewton.
Along with the two good linebackers, Riggs said Choctaw County has really great team speed.
Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Brewton Municipal Stadium.
