T.R. Miller students, faculty and alumni are making plans to celebrate the school’s homecoming with activities planned throughout the day Friday.
Students at the school recently selected a group of ladies to serve as members of the homecoming court.
Chosen as queen was Janel McCorvey. Attendants to the queen are Caroline Chapman and Catherine Reeves representing the senior class. Junior attendants are Shaniqua Kiser and Elizabeth Nelson with Jaime Snowden and Tikedra Taylor serving as sophomore attendants. Freshman attendants are Allie Adams and Casey Lodge.
Homecoming activities will begin Friday at T.R. Miller High School with an alumni reception beginning at 10:30 a.m. A tent with refreshments will be in place for alumni to gather near the band room at the school.
A pep rally will be held in the school gym beginning at 1 p.m. followed with school dismissal at 2 p.m.
Floats scheduled to be in the parade should be in line at the front of the school between 7 and 9:30 a.m. The convoy of floats and other units will leave the school at 2:30 p.m. to gather for the parade on Evergreen Avenue behind First Baptist Church.
The parade will begin at 3 p.m. from the church and will travel down Evergreen Avenue to U.S. 31 then to Belleville Avenue. A pep rally will be held in front of the courthouse during the parade.
Beginning at 6:30 p.m., pregame activities will include the presentation of the homecoming court with the crowning of the queen. Alumni classes will also be recognized during pregame ceremonies.
The kickoff of the homecoming game is at 7 p.m. as the T.R. Miller Tigers take on Choctaw County. A dance for students and their dates will be held at the Brewton Civic Center immediately after the game until midnight.
