Mrs. Lena Bell Bradley Benjamin, 89, died recently. She was a native of Brooklyn community and she was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Nicholson and Carrie Bradley; and her son, Kyler Benjamin Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Deacon Kyler Benjamin Sr.; four daughters, Retha Frisby and Dorothy Williams, both of Long Island, N.Y., Shirley (Jeff) Blount and Janice Benjamin, both of Brewton; five sons, James (Queen) Benjamin of Central Islip, N.Y., Charles (Nellie) Benjamin of Albion, Mich., Willie (Kathy) Benjamin of Brewton, Richard (Linda) Benjamin of Mobile, and Danny (Janet) Benjamin of Brewton; 32 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a devoted niece, Carrie Bradley Moncrease; a special cousin, Minnie Stallworth; a special care giver, Detrick Roberson; three sisters-in-law, Addie Benjamin and Bannie Pearl Benjamin, both of the Johnsonville community; and Ada Davis of Brewton; and a host of other friends and family.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 23, at 2 p.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, with Pastor Willie J. Dailey officiating. Burial followed at St. John Baptist Church Cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
