A new Brewton organization is aiming to build connections among the future leaders of the community.
The Brewton Young Professionals will hold its first meet and greet from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Country Club of Brewton. Organizer Jason Daniel, manager of public affairs for Georgia-Pacific, said the group is open to any young professionals age 21 to “young at heart.”
The first event will be an opportunity for members to network, Daniel said.
The ultimate goal of the Brewton Young Professionals — or BYPs, as Daniel has been calling the group — is to develop relationships for a generation that soon will be moving into greater leadership roles in the business community. Those connections can also help young professionals solve problems that arise or develop projects to help the entire community, he said.
As the group grows, Daniel said he would like to see more such networking events, as well as opportunities to hear speakers such as elected officials.
Anyone interested in learning more about the group can e-mail Daniel at brewtonyoungprofessionals@gmail.com or join the group’s Facebook fan page, Brewton Young Professionals.
Daniel said he hopes many young people will join the group at its first event Thursday.
