Mr. William Walter Cook, 93, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, in a local nursing facility after a brief illness. He was a native and life long resident of Escambia County. He was a member of Brewton Church of Christ, a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II, a member of the Cattleman’s Association, German Shepherd breeder, and retired from the Escambia County Commissioner with 20 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Kate Cook; five brothers and one sister.
He is survived by two sons, Gary (Debbie) Cook of Andalusia, and Billy Earl (Gayle) Cook of Brewton; eight grandchildren, Brad Cook, Bill Cook Jr., James Cook, Jonathan Cook, Tim Cook and Robert Cook.; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grancchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 7, at 12 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Minister Clifford Dixon officiating. Burial will follow at Hoomesville Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
