An East Brewton man was stabbed by a teenager during a robbery attempt Friday night, East Brewton Police Chief Kenneth Brazile said.
The man was recovering in a Mobile hospital as of Tuesday, while 16-year-old Demetrius J. McCaster remained in jail, charged as an adult with first-degree robbery and attempted murder.
Brazile said the incident took place just before 6 p.m. Friday in the Springhill community. The man had apparently been stabbed at his home and sought help at another address.
Brazil said the victim had been cut and stabbed several times in the altercation.
Brazil said McCaster was captured a short time after the incident.
Bond for the teen has been set at $250,000. He remains in custody at the Escambia County Detention Center in lieu of bond.
The charge of attempted murder is a class A felony, Brazile said.
If convicted, McCaster could face up to 10 years to life, or if a deadly weapon is used in commission of the crime, from 20 years to life.
The name of the victim was not released due to an ongoing investigation and presentation of case information, Brazile said.
