Mr. Lawyer Anderson Smith, 88, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, in a local hospital. He was a native of Evergreen and had lived in Brewton for most of his life. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the US. Army. He was employed at T.R. Miller Mill Company for a number of years and was a member of Baptist Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Mae Smith; and two sons, Howard Smith and Albert Smith.
He is survived by three sons, Lawrence Smith, Jessie (Regina) Smith, and Richard (Nora) Smith, all of Brewton; three daughters, Rosie (Ralph) Barton, Burech (Otis) Floyd, and Marion (Mannie) Harrison, all of Brewton; a sister, Mary Askew of Brewton; a special granddaughter, Barbara Peterson of Brewton; sisters-in-law, Rosie Anderson and Vera Montgomery, both of Brewton, and Sally Dailey of Cleveland, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Herman Dailey of Cleveland; 24 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Nov. 21, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Baptist Hill Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m. at Baptist Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Otis Floyd officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Baptist Hill Cemetery with Craver’s Funeral Home directing.
