A community choir from several churches in Brewton invited an equally diverse crowd to sing along Sunday night as they held a community Thanksgiving concert.
The event, held at Christ Kingdom Ministry Center, also featured fellowship and food provided by Pig Daddy’s and George’s Barbecue.
Brickhouse said he and his family, who were members of First Baptist Church when they lived here, were glad to be back in Brewton, if only for a short time. “This is a very special place,” he said. “You won’t find any other place quite like this.”
The choir opened by inviting the audience to sing “How Great Thou Art,” and then sang several songs, accompanied by members of local church bands and local high school band members.
The concert was opened with a prayer by First Presbyterian Church pastor John Mathieu, who quoted the Psalms: “I will sing for joy at the works of thy hands.”
Brickhouse helped organized the choir with Christ Kingdom Ministry Center’s Shwann Bradley and First Presbyterian’s Patti Neal.
