New park a jewel for our city

As we all prepare to give thanks this holiday season, we’d like to thank all of those involved in the beautiful renovation of City Park downtown.
The park hosted its first major public event last week since work began in March to redo the landscaping and the structures in the century-old park.
Only a few people know who gave the anonymous and generous donation to redo the park, but the work will benefit generations to come.
A new gazebo, a fountain and a beautiful clock tower are all part of the new layout, along with new landscaping that will be expanded later this winter.
Last week, the Christ Kingdom Ministry Center choir sang in the new gazebo during an event to help kick off the holiday season in our community. What better way to welcome the changes than with songs of praise?
Our hat’s off to Joe Gordy, chairman of the Tree and Beautification Committee, who worked hard to steer the project in the right direction, and to the city employees who also helped with much of the work.
As Mayor Ted Jennings pointed out, the park will only get better with age, as new landscaping matures and grows more beautiful every year.
We are blessed this holiday season in many ways, and our new City Park is certainly a jewel for our community.
