For Merill Ledford, retirement is more than a decision; he is ready for the next phase of his life.
Ledford began working at the Brewton branch of Alfa Insurance in 1987; giving him more than 20 years in insurance work in the area.
Ledford said his secretary, Beth Lee, may be sad to see him leave the office.
Ledford credited several people with what he called wonderful help over the years.
Ledford said he is looking forward to spending time catching up on things around the house.
Although there is some work in Ledford’s future, he does plan to spend a little time on the court and on the greens.
Ledford may be leaving the insurance business, but he said he may actually dabble a little in real estate.
Ledford said he didn’t want to make a big deal about his exit from the business.
