Mr. Carl Winston Byrd Sr., 78, died Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at a local hospital. He was a native of Wallace, and a resident of Little Rock for the past 49 years. He was a Korean War veteran and attended the Holiness Church.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rosie Byrd of Little Rock; two sons, Carl Winston Byrd Jr. and Melvin Byrd, both of Little Rock; two daughters, Deborah Smith of Bloomingdale, Mich., and Tammy Byrd Graham of Little Rock; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and for sisters, Maxine Legaspi, Eva Nazario and Patricia Humphreys, all of Pensacola, Fla., and Nora McDaniels of Brewton.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 30, at 10 a.m. at the Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Daniels officiating. Burial followed at Little Rock Cemetery with Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing.
