Mr. Joseph “Joby” E. Allen, 77, died Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, in a local hospital after a brief illness. He was a native of Mobile, a former resident of Arkansas, and a long time resident of Brewton. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a member and deacon of Appleton Assembly of God Church, and a retired paper machine foreman with more than 44 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Bea Allen of Brewton; three daughters, Sarah (Mark) Hudson of Luling, La., Beba Jo (Danny) Perdew of Greela, Col., and Alexis (Dwight) Maloy of Brewton; a brother, Arthur Allen of Saraland; four grandchildren, Nikki Lefort, Joey Wolford, Alex Perdew and Josh Maloy; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 30, at 2 p.m. at Appleton Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Russ McDonald and the Rev. Clovis Lewis officiating. Burial followed at Union Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
