Lady Eagles fall hard

In their first area game against UMS-Wright Monday night at home, the W.S. Neal Lady Eagles got off to a rocky start—literally.
After Briana Hawthorne put the Lady Eagles on the board first at the 7:37 mark in the first quarter, UMS went on a 19-0 run to take a 19-2 lead and cruised to a 73-32 win.
The loss dropped W.S. Neal to 2-2 overall with their second straight loss and fell to 0-1 in area play.
W.S. Neal was outscored in all quarters  with 20-4 in the first quarter, 17-13 in the second quarter, 17-10 in the third quarter, and 19-5 in the fourth quarter to lose by 41 points.
With the disadvantage in the quarters, the Lady Eagles trailed 37-17 at halftime and 54-27 at the end of the third quarter.
Along with the 19-0 run in the first quarter, the Lady Bulldogs had runs of 9-0 in the second quarter and a 15-0 run in the fourth quarter to take the big win.
Freida Folmar led the Lady Eagles in the loss with 23 points and Keyvonnia Kyles had six points.
Briana Hawthorne had two points and Angelique Askew had one.
Folmar had 12 of the Lady Eagles’ points in the second quarter and had four three-pointers in the game including three in the third quarter.
W.S. Neal will be back in action Thursday at J.U. Blacksher and will travel to Excel Friday.
