Mrs. Mary Smith, 62, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, in a Montgomery rehabilitation center. She was an active member of Union Missionary Baptist Church in Evergreen. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Thomas, Tillman, Ezzard, Charles Taylor; and one sister, Irene Johnson.
She is survived by a son, the Rev. James (Kawannon) Taylor of Troy; four grandchildren, Chelsea, Chloe, Jayne and Katrina; two sisters, Geraldine Morgan of Marsha, Texas; Velma (Issac) Smith of Chicago, Ill.; five brothers, John H. Taylor of Las Vegas, Nev., Dr. W. Gabriel Taylor of Marsha, Jimmy (Sylvia) Taylor of Atlanta, James D. (Earnestine) Taylor, and Ralph (Lillian) Taylor, both of Evergreen; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 28, at 11 a.m. at Union Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie F. Osby officiating. Burial followed at Second Mt. Zion Church Cemetery in Owassa with Christian Memorial Funeral Home of Brewton directing.
