BMS girls get first win for season, boys team picks up first loss

Brewton Middle School’s Lady Tiger basketball team picked up their first win of the season Tuesday night on the road at Earnest Ward. The boys’ team picked up their first loss for the season.
The Lady Tigers improved to 1-4 with a 25-13 win over Earnest Ward while the boys lost 27-24 for their first loss.
Both teams will be back in action on Thursday, Dec. 10, at W.S. Neal Middle School.
Game time is set for 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Brewton used a 13-2 first quarter and a 6-1 third quarter to earn their first win of the season with a 12-point win.
Brewton led by 11 at the end of the first quarter and 15-8 at the half after Earnest Ward outscored them 6-2.
In the third quarter, the Lady Tigers extended their lead to 21-9 and after a 4-4 scoring in the fourth quarter for both teams hung on for the 25-13 win.
Kristen Booker led the Lady Tigers with 11 points and Star Drakeford added six points.
Shakera Nelson and Onesha Hall had four points each.

After trailing after the first and second quarter, Brewton held a 20-18 lead after three quarter, but was outscored 9-4 in the fourth quarter to suffer their first loss 27-24.
Brewton trailed 11-3 after the first quarter but outscored Earnest Ward 6-2 in the second quarter to cut the lead to 13-9 at the half.
In the third quarter, the Tigers outscored Earnest Ward 11-5 to take a 20-18 lead heading into the fourth quarter of play.
In the fourth, Earnest Ward overcame the Tigers with a five-point advantage in the quarter to win by three points.
Shaun Tolbert led with eight points for Brewton and was followed by six from Keion Smith.
Kameron Coleman added four points in the loss and Corey Carter and Allen Boyd both chipped in two points each.
