ECHS takes down TRM B-team

Friday night at home, the T.R. Miller B-team opened their 2009-2010 basketball season with a 43-27 loss to Escambia County to start the season 0-1.
T.R. Miller trailed 9-5 after the first quarter and 20-12 at the half after being outscored by four points again in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, the Tigers cut the lead to 22-16 but fell to an 8-0 run to the Blue Devils to trail 37-20 heading into the fourth quarter of play.
In the fourth, the home Tigers outscored Escambia County 7-6 to cut the lead by one point by it was not enough as they lost by 16 points in their home and season opener.
Darrion Salter and Kameron Winn led the Tigers with six points each and Caleb Hubbard followed close behind with five points.
Randy Davis chipped in four points along with Marc Edge and Mark Bryant tallied two points in the loss for the Tigers.
T.R. Miller led 4-2 and 5-4 in the first quarter before the Blue Devils ended the quarter on a 5-0 run to take a five-point lead at the end of the quarter.
The Blue Devils stayed on their run taking a 14-5 lead with 5:27 left in the half only to see the Tigers fight back and cut the lead to 17-12 with a 5-0 run of their own at the 2:36 mark in the quarter.
Escambia County ended the run and held and eight-point lead at the half.
T.R. Miller would get as close as six points to the lead in the third quarter and as close as 16 points with two seconds left in the game as Winn scored a 3-pointer to end the game for the Tigers.
The Tigers were set to be back in action on Tuesday night at home against Andalusia and will travel to East Brewton on Friday to take on the W.S. Neal Eagles in a 4:30 p.m. tip.
