Lady Tigers pull out close game vs Andy

In a close game Tuesday night in Brewton the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers needed a 7-0 run in the third quarter to eek out a 36-31 win over Andalusia.
The win for the No. 8 Lady Tigers improved their record to 4-1 this season.
Jackson said just talking with the team after the ball game, they know they had a bad game, but it is the right time to have a bad game.
T.R. Miller trailed 5-4 after the first quarter and after both teams scored 12 points in the second quarter, trailed 17-16 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Andalusia took a 19-16 lead only to see the Lady Tigers use a 7-0 run over the next two minutes to take a 23-19 lead.
The Lady Tigers would outscore the Lady Bulldogs by six in the quarter, 16-10, to hold a 32-27 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Tigers used their ball-control offense to run as much time off the clock as possible and held a 34-29 lead with 5:06 left to play.
T.R. Miller would miss two free throws at the 4:43 mark and a Lady Bulldog steal at the 1:17 mark cut the lead to 34-31.
The Lady Tigers then committed a turnover with 48.2 seconds left to play and a missed 3-pointer for Andalusia was rebounded by T.R. Miller only to have another turnover and Andalusia get the ball back with a chance to tie the game.
Nakiya Smith then earned a steal for the Lady Tigers and Shaniqua Kiser scored with 3.2 seconds left to play to give T.R. Miller the 36-31 win.
Smith led with 17 points in the win and Keydra Shedrone had 12 points with four 3-pointers.
Kiser finished with seven points in the win with only three Lady Tigers scoring in the game.
T.R. Miller was set to take on W.S. Neal in East Brewton  Friday and will return to action Monday at home against Hillcrest.
Beginning Friday, Dec. 18, the Lady Tigers, along with the varsity Tigers, and other Escambia County teams will take part in the Escambia County basketball tournament to be held at Flomaton High School.
The Lady Tigers will begin play Friday at 3:30 p.m. as they start the tournament against the Lady Blue Devils of Escambia County High School in Atmore.
The Lady Tigers of T.R. Miller have won seven of the previous eight Escambia County Tournament championships.
The lone non-championship tournament year for the Lady Tigers came in the 2006 tournament at home when they lost to the Escambia County Lady Blue Devils.
