The W.S. Neal High School Lady Eagle basketball team improved to 6-3 Monday with a 34-27 win at Red Level.
The win for the Lady Eagles was the second win over Red Level this season after posting a win at home in their second game of the season.
In the game on Monday, both teams struggled in the first quarter with both teams equally posting three points.
The teams began to score in the second quarter as W.S. Neal outscored Red Level 14-9 to take a 17-12 lead into the locker rooms at the halftime break.
With a five-point lead at intermission, Red Level cut the Lady Eagle lead to one-point following an 11-7 advantage in the third quarter to cut the lead to 24-23 heading into the fourth quarter.
Leading by one, the Lady Eagles put the game away in the fourth quarter as they posted 10 points to Red Level’s four for a six-point advantage and took the seven-point win 34-27.
Keyvonnia Kyles and Briana Hawthorne both had 12 points in the win and Freida Folmar and Angelique Askew had four points each.
Megan Andrews added two points for W.S. Neal.
W.S. Neal was set to have played in the Escambia County Tournament on Friday with their first game coming against Flomaton.
W.S. Neal will be back in action today as they will take on T.R. Miller in the tournament at 3:30 p.m. and will play Escambia County on Monday at 3:30 p.m. as well.
Following tournament play, W.S. Neal will not be back in action until Tuesday, Jan. 5, against Jackson.
The game will be an area game for the Lady Eagles.
