A Milton resident and former Brewton resident was arrested just days before Christmas and was charged with possession of a controlled substance and trafficking a controlled substance along with a traffic charge, authorities said.
Sgt. Bryan Davis with the Brewton Police Department Narcotics Division said the arrest of Tina Renae Brazil, 39, of Milton, Fla., was made during a routine traffic stop Dec. 22.
Davis said Durden performed a field sobriety test on Brazil which resulted in her arrest on charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
Davis said a search of the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop resulted in additional charges being filed against Brazil.
Davis said the large number of pills found in the vehicle were enough for Brazil to be charged with trafficking. “The amount of pills in the vehicle were over four grams,” Davis said. “That amount led to the charge of trafficking a controlled substance.”
Davis said Brazil was taken into custody and was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center. The suspect was released after posting bail on a $1.5 million bond.
