Goffre Wayne Hawsey|Brewton
Mr. Goffre Wayne Hawsey, 89, died Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, in a local healthcare facility. He was a native of Dixonville and a resident of the Brewton area for the past 55 years, coming from Mobile. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a maintenance superintendent at Container Corporation prior to his retirement. He was a member of Catawba Springs Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Hawsey.
He is survived by two sons, Jerry (Javonda) Hawsey of Brewton, and Tim (Diana) Hawsey to Flomaton; two sisters, Katherine Cahoon of Mobile, and Deane Knight of Gulf Shores; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Catawba Springs Baptist Church on Monday, Jan. 4, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jeff Edwards officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Craver’s Funeral Home directing.
