City OKs sidewalk bid

Brewton City Council members approved a bid submitted for construction of sidewalks in the city.
Troy Hudson, of Hudson Engineering, presented bid tabulations for the project to the council during Tuesday’s meeting.
Low bidder for the project was Starfish Construction with a bid of $205,390.18. Council members immediately approved a resolution awarding the bid to the local contractor.
The Transportation Enhancement stimulus sidewalk project will extend sidewalks primarily along U.S. 31, Hudson said.
Additional sidewalks will be construction on the southern end of Alco Drive, along U.S. 31 to Persimmon Street near the skate park.
