Miss Mullis|TRM student competes in Junior Miss

Escambia County’s Junior Miss, Mallory Mullis is in Montgomery this week for the next phase of the Junior Miss Program.
Mullis, a T.R. Miller student, left Friday for Montgomery and will be preparing all week for the state program. She will have a full schedule of practice which will begin at 8 a.m. daily and end between 9 and 10 p.m.
The contestants will be learning routines for the show and attending events such as dinner with the Kiwanis Club of Montgomery, the Cattlemen’s Association, and an outing to the Montgomery Zoo.
The 52 contestants in the state Junior Miss program will compete in five categories: interview, fitness, self expression, talent and essay.
Mullis was also among 10 contestants that were selected to perform her talent at St. James Elementary School on Tuesday.
While in Montgomery, she is staying with a host family, Mr. and Mrs. Streeter Wiatt.
Mullis turned 18 Tuesday — but she wasn’t be able to communicate with her family on her birthday.

Tickets to the program can be purchased by calling 334-279-9730; anyone purchasing should mention they are from Escambia County.
The Junior Miss competition will be held in Montgomery Friday, Jan. 15, and Saturday, Jan. 16.
Mullis is the daughter of Debra Mullis of Brewton and Ron Mullis of Atlanta. She is also the granddaughter of Leonard and Lucille Peevy of Brewton.
