Mrs. Willie Mae Windham Dawkins, 77, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at her residence after a brief illness. She was a native of Monroe County and a long time resident of Brewton before moving to Castleberry. She was a member of North Brewton Baptist Church and a retired seamstress with Judy Bond with more than 20 years of service.
She is survived by a son, Mike (Darria) Myrick of Brewton; two daughters, Linda Gale Franklin of Pensacola, Fla., and Lygia (Stephen) Corley of Castleberry; two brothers, Wendell “Baby” (Nola) Windham of Elizabeth, Col., and Buddy (Genevia) Winston Windham of Picayune, Miss.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 19, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael King officiating. Burial followed at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
