The Oak Ridge Boys and Brewton native William Lee Golden will be close to home this weekend.
The group is performing at the Saenger Theater in Pensacola, Fla., Friday night.
The performance is the first to be held in this area in a long time, Golden said.
Golden said the Boys perform about 160 days out of the year.
The group has been making music for many years. They have gone from gospel to country and still have fans of all ages come to their concerts. Their latest album, “The Boys Are Back,” shows that their popularity has not gone away with time, but now they are playing to a new generation.
They recorded Slow Train with Shooter Jennings, son of Waylon Jennings and Jessie Colter, and were later invited to come on his show. Richard Sterban said the group took one look at the audience and realized they were playing for a much younger generation. They played Slow Train and found they had a new group to play to.
With the new album with its range of tunes going from Beautiful Bluebird to Mama’s Table, the group has a new hit and have also come out with a gold album of their hits from the past.
