Alabama State Troopers are continuing to investigate a Saturday accident that claimed the life of an Atmore area teen.
Patrick Bryan Jay, 18 of Perdido, was killed when the vehicle he was riding in left U.S. 31 about 5 miles south of Atmore, according to reports from the Alabama State Troopers office.
At about 3:45 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to the accident that sent the driver of the vehicle to a Mobile hospital.
Tiffany Brooke Parker, 16, of Bay Minette, was driving the 2008 Honda Civic at the time of the crash, reports say.
Parker was transported by Lifeflight to U.S.A. Medical Center in Mobile. The extent of her injuries was not available.
Jay, who was taken to Atmore Community Hospital following the incident, was employed with Walmart in Bay Minette and enjoyed playing football, according to family members.
Donnie Burkett, Jay’s uncle, said the victim was a good person who helped others often. “He was an outstanding young man,” Burkett said. “He was well liked. He would do anything for you.”
Funeral services for Jay are scheduled for 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
He is survived by his parents, James Roger (Teresa) Jay of Perdido and Faye Burkett of Atmore, two brothers, Christopher and Timothy Jay; three sisters, Aston White, Audrey and Alexis Jay, grandparents Jimmy and Cynthia Jay, Ronald Burkett, Barbara Elder, Rose McGhee, Margaret Ann Jones and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home on South Main Street.
