Keyvonnia Kyles had eight 3-pointers for the W.S. Neal Lady Eagles and 28 total points as W.S. Neal got back on the winning track Tuesday night at home with a 43-36 win over J.U. Blacksher.
The win improved W.S. Neal to 9-11 this season and ended their four game losing streak.
As for Kyles’ performance, Roberts was pleased.
The Lady Eagles jumped out to an early 7-0 lead behind two of Kyles’ early 3s in the game.
J.U. Blacksher came back with a 5-0 run to cut the lead to 7-5 only to see Kyles add another 3-pointer for the Lady Eagles and lead 10-5 after the first quarter.
Kyles had all 10 points in the first quarter for the Lady Eagles.
In the second quarter, the Lady Eagles were outscored 12-11 to only lead by four points at the halftime break.
In the third quarter, J.U. Blacksher, who ended the second quarter on a 4-0 run, made their run a 6-0 run early in the quarter to cut the lead to 21-19.
W.S. Neal was able to use a 15-0 run in the third quarter after J.U. Blacksher cut the lead to two points at 21-19 with 7:45 left in the quarter. The Eagles lead 36-19 heading into the fourth quarter as they outscored the Lady Bulldogs 15-2 in the quarter.
Kyles added three more 3-pointers in the quarter to finish with eight in the game.
In the fourth quarter, with a 17-point lead intact, the Lady Eagles were outscored 17-7 and had their lead cut to seven points, but were able to hang on for the win.
W.S. Neal shot 6-of-18 from the free throw line in the win. J.U. Blacksher was 9-of-18.
Kyles led W.S. Neal with 28 points and Folmar added nine points in the win. Tiana Smith had three points and Arianna Jones added two points. Briana Hawthorne chipped in one point in the win for the Lady Eagles.
W.S. Neal will be back in action Monday at Pleasant Home before taking place in the area tournament at UMS-Wright in Mobile.
