Mr. Buster Ates Jr., 69, died Friday, Jan. 29, 2010 in Opp. He was a native of Milton, Fla., and had been a resident of the Brewton area for the past 40 years. He served with the National Guard and had worked as a meat department manager at Winn-Dixie for more than 25 years. He was a member of Blue Springs Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Ates.
He is survived by two daughters, Paula (Jim) Flannigan of Milton, and Sheila (Heath) Brown of Flomaton; three brothers, Herbert Ates, J. W. Ates and Glen Ates, all of Milton; three sisters, Shirley Blackwell of Repton, and Mary Blair and Hazel Peaden, both of Milton; four grandchildren and a special friend, Joyce Northy of Opp.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 1, at 10 a.m. at the chapel of Cravers Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Lee officiating. Burial followed at Pineview Cemetery with Cravers Funeral Home directing.
