Snow has been falling across Brewton since about 7:30 this morning, and schools and many offices remain closed in the city.
County officials are urging motorists to take extreme caution if they have to be on the roads or just avoid driving altogether.
Snow is expected to last much of the morning and afternoon.
Brewton City and Escambia County schools are closed today, as is Jefferson Davis Community College. The Escambia County Courthouse is also closed.
