Mr. Durwood Martin Peevy, 82, died Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, in a veteran’s hospital in Bay Minette, after an extended illness. He was a native and life long resident of Escambia County and was a retired store clerk with the state of Alabama. He was a member of the Cedar Hill Methodist Church and a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sybil, and his brothers, Luther and Malvin Peevy.
He is survived by his wife, Zolena Burch Peevy of East Brewton; four brothers, Jack (Kathleen) Peevy of East Brewton, Maxwell (Vitanna) Peevy of Mobile, and Leonard (Lucille) Peevy and Lyman (Frances) Peevy, both of Brewton.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 18, at 2 p.m. at Craver’s Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Steve Vanlandingham officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Spear Cemetery with Craver’s Funeral Home directing.
