Just not enough|Warhawks fall to ASCC

The last two minutes of the first half and the first five minutes of the second half was the difference in the game Monday night at home for the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk basketball team as they suffered a 73-58 loss to the Alabama Southern Eagles in their last home game.
The loss for the Warhawks dropped them to 5-17 overall and to 4-10 in conference play.
The Warhawks held a 29-24 lead with 2:21 left in the first half before falling to a 9-0 run for Alabama Southern to fall down 33-29 with 26.1 seconds left before halftime.
JDCC would hit two late free throws to cut the lead to 33-31 at the end of the first half.
In the second half, Alabama Southern opened the half on a 7-0 run to hold a 40-31 lead with 17:43 left in the game and go on to outscored JDCC 40-27 in the half to get the 15-point win.
They took the lead to five points at 50-45 with 9:34 left after an 8-0 run for the Warhawks.
JDCC cut the lead to 54-47 with 7:45 left in the game, but Alabama Southern had runs of 6-0 twice to help put the game away.
In the first half, JDCC led 8-6 with 14:25 left before the Eagles used a 6-0 run to hold a 12-8 lead with 11:41 left in the first half.
JDCC took a 15-12 lead with 9:51 after a 7-0 run and neither team would lead by as much as three points until JDCC’s 27-22 and 29-24 late in the game before Alabama Southern’s 9-0 run to take the 33-29 lead.
JDCC shot 18-of-25 from the free throw line in the loss, 10-for-12 in the first half and 8-for-13 in the second half.
Alabama Southern was 13-for-19 in the game from the line as they went 4-for-6 from the line in the first half and 9-for-13 in the second half.
Logan Campbell led JDCC with 19 points and was joined by two other Warhawks in double figures as Marquis Williams added 17 points and Kentrail Brown had 12 points.
Damien Jackson chipped in four points and Zavier Likely and Jamey Goddin had three points each.
JDCC will be back in action on Thursday at Chattahoochee Valley at 7:30 p.m.
The Warhawks will end their regular season with an away game at Bishop State in Mobile on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m.

Wallace State Selma 78
The Warhawks secured a playoff berth Thursday night with a 90-78, 12-point win over Wallace State Selma.
The win improved JDCC to 5-16 overall and to 4-9 in conference play.
Trailing 35-32 at the half after Jamey Goddin hit a buzzer beater to pull the Warhawks within three points,  JDCC outscored Wallace State by 15 points in the second half, 58-43, to win by 12.
Gainer added with the win securing a playoff berth for his team, now they are fighting for seeding position.
Four Warhawks finished in double figures in the win with Kentrail Brown leading with 24, Marquis Williams with 23, Damien Jackson and Zavier Likely both with 12 points.
Goddin finished with eight points, Dennis Miller with six points, and Logan Campbell added five points.
Jackson and Williams both had four steals and Williams led with one block and six assists.
Brown led the team with nine rebounds in the win.
JDCC shot 53 percent from the field and was 12-for-32 from the behind the arch and shot 50 percent, 6-for-12, from the free throw line.
