The Rev. Alton Lee Pitchford, 79, died March 1, 2010. He was a native of Tallapoosa County and he was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Bernie Pitchford; a son, Marc; and three brothers, Joe, Thomas and William Pitchford. He was a pastor with the United Methodist Church and served all throughout south and central Alabama for 45 years.
He is survived by his wife of more than 46 years, Hellon Salter Pitchford, a son Michael (Ginger) Pitchford of Lynn Haven Fla., a daughter Traci Senn of Opelika; and three grandsons, Chase McConnell, Jeffrey Senn, and Kyle Marshall; two sisters, Myrtle Hamby and Mildred Elliott; two brothers, Melvin and Artie He
also leaves behind two sisters. Myrtle Hamby and Mildred Elliott, and two brothers, Melvin and Artie Pitchford, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Reverend Pitchford will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, at Fredericks Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 4, at 1 p.m. at Fredericks Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe Lay and the Rev. Earl Ballard officiating. Burial will follow in Garden Hills Cemetery.
