East Brewton’s Police Department has taken on a new look that offers security and privacy. Chief Kenny Brazile said the renovations recently completed are steps that have been taken to improve operations at the department,
Brazile said funding for the renovations and upgrades at the department were made possible through a grant from the E911 Board.
Renovations at the department included the creation of a lobby Brazile said now provides security for officers and dispatchers at the department.
Brazile said not only was security an issue under the previous layout, privacy was also an issue.
With the secure dispatch area, Brazile said East Brewton now has abilities that weren’t available previously.
Brazile said the added availability to NCIC will allow his department to run tag and license checks as well as check criminal backgrounds on anyone being questioned by officers.
Although improving the capabilities of the department is a plus, Brazile said there are other changes that still need to be made.
