Mr. James Edgar Pace Jr., 84, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010 in Wagarville. He was a longtime resident of Brewton and had been a resident of Wagarville in Washington County for the past 30 years. He had been a member of the U.S. Marines serving in World War II in the Pacific at Peleiu and Okinawa and a member of the occupation force in Japan.He was preceded in death by his parents, James Edgar Pace and Minnie Belle Nolen Pace; his wife of 58 years, Annie Ruth Hall Pace; a son, Donald Wayne Pace; four brothers, Robert, Paul, Grover, Hosea, and Bill; and one sister, Effie Pace Gibson.
He is survived by his son, James Michael (Maxine) Pace of Brewton; a daughter, Linda Ruth (Jim) Ready of Wagarville; seven grandchildren, Wendy (Wayne) Roney, Lisa (Anthony) Hardy, John Baxley, Jamie (Jennifer) Mathis, Cody Ready, Kayla (Cleve) Walley and Colton Ready; seven great-grandchildren, Trenton and Tyler Baxley, Blake and Brooke Roney, Adelyn Raine Mathis, Tucker James Bond, and Walker Walley; numerous nieces and nephews and one sister-in-law, Vergie Chason Pace.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 6, at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson. Burial followed at Ebenezer Methodist Church Cemetery in Wagarville with Latham Funeral Home of Jackson directing.
