The T.R. Miller Tiger baseball team swept a doubleheader at Escambia County Friday night in Atmore to improve their record to 4-1.
The Tigers defeated the Blue Devils 7-1 in game one and 11-6 in game two.
T.R. Miller was set to be back in action Tuesday at home against Flomaton and will start area play Thursday at home against Bayside Academy in a 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. doubleheader.
Game one: T.R. Miller 7, Escambia County 1
Tiger pitcher Kevin Davis struck out 15 Blue Devils and added three RBIs, a double and a homerun at the plate to help the Tigers of Brewton earn a 7-1 win over Atmore.
T.R. Miller scored four runs in the fourth inning, two in the fifth, and one in the sixth inning while holding Atmore to just one run in the fifth inning.
Davis went the complete distance on the mound allowing one earned run on three hits, and walked two along with his 15 strikeouts.
At the plate, Ryan Hunt had one RBI and Caleb McAnally was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two doubles.
Corey Rilling was 2-for-4 with a triple and Robert Knowles added one RBI in the win while Stephen Warren was 1-for-3.
Game two: T.R. Miller 11, Escambia County 6
Trailing 4-3 after the fifth inning, the Tigers scored four runs in the sixth and seventh innings to improve to 4-1 with an 11-6 win.
The four runs in the sixth inning gave T.R. Miller a 7-4 lead and added four more in the seventh inning to claim an 11-4 lead. The Blue Devils added two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to cut the lead to 11-6, but would not get any closer.
Robert Knowles got the start on the mound and the no decision while Corey Rilling took the win.
Knowles went three innings allowing four runs on four hits, struck out six and walked one. Rilling went four innings and allowed two runs on one hit, struck out five and walked two.
Hunt was 2-for-4 for the Tigers and Conner Denton was 1-for-5. Wes Dickey was 2-for-5 and Cody Swain was 2-for-5 with one RBI. Davis continued his dominance at the plate, as he was 2-for-5 with three RBIs and a homerun in the win for T.R. Miller.
Rilling was 2-for-4 with one RBI and Knowles was 2-for-5 with one RBI.
