A knock on the door by Brewton Police Department narcotics officers Thursday led to three suspects being held on $1 million bond each.
Sgt. Bryan Davis, commander of the Brewton Police Department’s Narcotics Unit, said two residents and a visitor at 178 Old Castleberry Road were taken into custody after officers searched the home and found drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Joseph Powell III was at the home when officers knocked on his door just after 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Davis said. A visitor, Julius Powell of Atlanta, was also present at the address.
Davis said a third person, Beverly Rogers Lowe, the second resident of the home, was taken into custody a short time later after being contacted by officers.
Davis said officers were granted permission by Joseph Powell to make a search of the home.
Items seized in the search included more than 2.5 pounds of marijuana, scales for weighing, a variety of plastic and paper bags typically used for distribution, plastic containers and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Each of the arrested individuals was charged with trafficking marijuana, first-degree possession of marijuana; possession of a controlled substance (ecstasy), and possession of drug paraphernalia.
