Mrs. Irene Travis Coleman, 69, died Friday, March 12, 2010. She was a native and longtime resident of Brewton. She was a member of Old Springhill Primitive Baptist Church. She resided, for a time, in New Orleans, La., where she graduated from Booker T. Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Annie Mae Agee Travis; two brothers, Roosevelt Travis and George Travis; and two sisters, Cora Lee and Jacqueline Jones.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Joe Coleman; a son, Joseph, a daughter-in-law, Cody; a granddaughter, Mya Jai; two sisters, Eula (Jerry) Culliver of Columbus, Ga., and Bertha (Burl) Jones of New Orleans; two sisters-in-law, Bobbie Jean (Stan) Wilks and Dorothy; six brothers-in-law, Jerry Jones, Howard (Ethel) Jones, Jimmy (Gina) Jones, Otha (Annie) Jones, Willie (Tammy) Jones and Curtis Jones; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 20, at 2:30 p.m. at Old Springhill Primitive Baptist Church with Elder E.J. Williams officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
