W.S. Neal softball gets area win over B.C. Rain

The W.S. Neal Lady Eagle softball team improved to 5-10 overall and earned their first area win Tuesday against B.C. Rain with a 13-2 victory.
The area win improved them to 1-3 in area play.
W.S. Neal scored seven runs in the first inning to help get the win and held B.C. Rain to just one run in the first and fourth innings.
W.S. Neal also had runs of three in the third, one in the fourth, and two in the fifth to get the 10-run mercy rule.
At the plate, Lauren Boatwright was 2-for-2 with two walks, an inside-the-park homerun and two RBIs and two runs scored.
Heather Elliott was 1-for-2 with one RBI and two runs scored. Kaitlin Hadaway was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and one run scored.
Hadaway also took the win on the mound as she went the complete game five innings and struck out nine and gave up one hit.
Haney said his team is not hitting the ball very well right now.  
W.S. Neal was set to play area opponent UMS-Wright Thursday at home, but that game has been postponed until Wednesday, April 21 at 5 p.m.
W.S. Neal will be back in action when they travel to Evergreen to take on the Hillcrest High School Lady Jaguars.
Game time is set for 4 p.m. with the varsity playing in an area game and the JV playing at 6 p.m.
W.S. Neal will play at home  Thursday against Jackson in another area game.
Game time is set for 4:30 p.m. in East Brewton.
A makeup game against Florala from the second game of the season will be played Friday, April 9 in Florala.
The game will be a doubleheader that is set to be held at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
