After defeating area opponent Bayside Academy 8-2 Friday night on the road to improve to 14-3 overall and to 4-1 in area play, the T.R. Miller Tiger baseball team had their winning streak snapped Saturday at Northview.
The Tigers lost to Northview 9-8 to drop to 14-4.
The Tigers were set to take on Excel in a doubleheader on the road Tuesday and will close out their regular season with home games with W.S. Neal Thursday and Cottage Hill Friday.
T.R. Miller 8, Bayside Academy 2
Tiger starting pitcher Kevin Davis struck out 15 Admirals while allowing only four hits and one earned run as he earned a complete game win with an 8-2 Tiger win over Bayside Friday in Daphne.
The area win improved T.R. Miller to 4-1 in area play and 14-3 overall.
Davis allowed a first inning homerun to the first batter of the game before allowing just one walk to get the win.
The Tigers allowed one run in the first and fifth to Bayside while scoring one run of their own in the first inning, four in the second, one in the third and two in the sixth inning to get the win.
Wes Dickey was 1-for-4 with a double at the plate in the win and Conner Denton was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a triple.
Davis was 2-for-2 with three RBIs and two doubles and Cody Swain was 1-for-4. Corey Rilling was 3-for-4 and Robert Knowles was 1-for-3 with one RBI. Ryan Hunt was 2-for-4 at the plate in the win.
Northview 9, T.R. Miller 8
The Tigers saw their nine-game win streak come to an end as their late rally came up one-run short to Northview Saturday on the road.
The Tigers held a 3-0 lead after the top of the third inning before Northview scored four in the third, three in the fourth and two in the fifth inning to grab a 9-3 lead.
T.R. Miller cut the lead to 9-6 with three runs in the top of the sixth inning and scored two in the seventh inning to cut the lead to one, but failed to plate any more runs and fell to 14-4.
Knowles took the loss on the mound as he went four innings and allowed seven runs, five hits, struck out four, walked two and allowed three earned runs.
Corey Rilling pitched the final two innings and allowed two runs, two hits, struck out two and walked one.
Dickey went 2-for-3 with one RBI and Denton was 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Davis was 1-for-4 with a double and Caleb McAnally was 1-for-3. Swain was 1-for-2 with three RBIs and Knowles and Hunt were both 1-for-3.
Stephen Warrant was 2-for-4 with one RBI.
