Taxpayers who have waited until the last minute — literally — in the past to pay their taxes will not be able to do that this year.
The U.S. Postal Service announced Wednesday that it will not have after-retail services or later-than-posted mail collection times at any of its Alabama locations.
This year all post offices in the state will observe regular posted hours for retail operations, as well as the regular collection times listed on wall deposit slots and blue collection boxes, postal service officials said.
The postal service said a "sharp drop in demand" for the last-minute April 15 postmark caused the phase-out of after-hours services.
