Construction workers last week began framing the building that will house Brewton’s new Whataburger restaurant.
The restaurant is expected to open the weekend before Memorial Day, said David L. Turner of Whataburger Ventures.
The new restaurant is located in front of Walmart Supercenter on U.S. 31 North. It will be considered a flagship store for the chain, city officials have said.
The fast food restaurant chain, which is based in Texas, was the No. 2 sandwich chain in growth nationwide in 2008, according to Nations Restaurant News, which also ranked the company the No. 13 sandwich chain that year.
