A Brewton man is behind bars after being arrested as a suspect in the burglary of a pharmacy in East Brewton — but police are still investigating other leads in the March 24 incident at Fred’s pharmacy.
Bobby Hanes of U.S. 31 in Brewton was charged with second-degree theft of property and third-degree theft of property, East Brewton Police Chief Kenny Brazile said.
The burglary occurred during the night of March 23 or early March 24, Brazile said.
Brazile said those responsible for the break-in entered the pharmacy were prescription medication was stored.
The department did not release the exact types and amounts of drugs taken from the pharmacy.
Brazile said the investigation into the burglary is continuing. Additional suspects could be arrested in connection with this case.
Anyone with information concerning the burglary should contact the East Brewton Police Department at 867-4864 or any other law enforcement agency.
